Re-engineering knock-out processes
نویسنده
چکیده
The core of many workflow processes in banks, insurance companies, governmental departments, and administrations of multinationals is formed by a set of tasks that are used to classify cases into two groups: accepted and rejected. Each of these Ž . tasks has two possible outcomes: OK or NOK i.e., Not OK . If for a specific case all tasks result in OK, the case is accepted, otherwise it is rejected. In this paper, we concentrate on the order in which these tasks need to be executed to yield an ‘optimal’ process with respect to the utilization of resources and flow time. Both sequential and parallel routing are considered. The effect of combining tasks is also investigated. A step-wise approach consisting of 11 concrete re-engineering rules is given. The approach is supported by a simulation toolbox ExSpectrKO. q 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights

Rate of Pressure Rise in SI Engine Cylinder and its Relation to Knock (RESEARCH NOTE)
Tremendous efforts have been devoted to study the complex phenomenon "knock in spark ignition engines. There is an increasing interest in providing some tools to study knock in simulated data. In the previous studies, engine cylinder pressure oscillation has been used to investigate knock. Unless those methods involved highly complex non-detailed chemical relations, the previous studies were de...
متن کاملPlant glyco-biotechnology on the way to synthetic biology
Plants are increasingly being used for the production of recombinant proteins. One reason is that plants are highly amenable to glycan engineering processes and allow the production of therapeutic proteins with increased efficacies due to optimized glycosylation profiles. Removal and insertion of glycosylation reactions by knock-out/knock-down approaches and introduction of glycosylation enzyme...
متن کاملLocal Heat Transfer Coefficients in a Rectangular Duct with Plate Blockages of Variable Stream Wise Spacing
An experimental investigation is conducted to determine the effect of repeated-plate blockages of variable streamwise spacing on heat transfer characteristics of turbulent flow in rectangular ducts. The plates are attached to the upper and lower walls in a staggered arrangement. The experiments are carried out by mass transfer and the analogy between heat and mass transfer provides the necessar...
متن کاملProcesses and apparatuses for formation, separation, pelletizing storage and re-gasification of gas hydrate
In recent years, the feasibility of utilizing gas hydrates in industrial systems draws much attention as a subject of engineering studies. Despite the suggested applications for gas hydrate in transportation and storage of natural gas, desalination of water, etc., there have been few applied industrial experiences with gas hydrates. There are several patents and papers on promotion of gas hydra...
متن کاملQuality Driven Re-engineering Framework
Context. Software re-engineering has been identified as a business critical activity to improve legacy systems in industries. It is the process of understanding existing software and improving it, for modified or improved functionality, better maintainability, configurability, reusability, or other quality goals. However, there is little knowledge to integrate software quality attributes into t...
